Island Cooking Classes with Miss B
Sampling different foods and flavors is one of the great parts of traveling, and learning how typical local dishes are made is a fun way to experience local culture, as well as have a lasting memory to share with friends and family when your trip is done. Roatan cooking classes are offered every Sunday at 5pm at Roatan Backpackers Hostel with our islander cook, Miss B, for hostel guests and non-hostel guests alike. Cooking classes can also be arranged on other days/times for groups of 6-8 people. The cost is $15+tax per person (hostel guests get a discount), and includes all ingredients. The class takes about an hour and a half, and is followed by sitting down to enjoy the dinner you created. Each week is a different local dish, such as tapado (a seafood stew in coconut milk broth), stewed shrimp with rice and beans, pastelitos, conch soup, ceviche, coconut bread and many other typical dishes. If you have a special request, please email us in advance to see if we can accommodate it.
