How do you get to Roatan? There are several options available:
International Flights: Roatan has an international airport (RTB) with direct flights from Houston several days a week through Continental, direct flights from Atlanta every Saturday through Delta, and charter flights during the winter months with Sunwing from Toronto and Montreal every Monday (sometimes with great last minute sell offs, you can buy air only, you don't need to do their packages). Domestic Flights: If you're traveling through Central America, or have found a cheap deal flying in to the mainland of Honduras, there are several domestic airlines offering flights from la Ceiba, San Pedro Sula and Tegucipalpa. Domestic airlines include CM, CAA, SOSA and Islena. Ferry: The least expensive way of getting to Roatan from the mainland is to take the ferry from la Ceiba ( http://www.roatanferry.com/schedule-fares.html ), which normally makes the trip twice daily. They change the schedule and add an extra trip at Christmas and Semana Santa, but it still fills up in a hurry at these times. The rest of the year, you're fine arriving at the ferry dock about 30 minutes prior to departureCatamaran from Utila: Capt'n Vern operates a no-frills service between the two islands once daily. They arrive at the Coconut Tree Dock in West EndPrivate boat: Roatan is a natural stopping place for private yachts traveling down from Rio Dulce, Guatemala, or for vessels on their way up from the Panama Canal. If you've got good timing and some boating experience, you might be able to find yourself a free ride! |
HOW DO YOU FIND THE HOSTEL?There are no street addresses in Roatan, so finding us can be a little tricky. Have our phone number with you: 9714-0413. DIRECTIONS TO THE HOSTEL FROM THE AIRPORT: It's about a 10 minute drive to the west. If you leave the airport parking lot, cross the road and flag a taxi on the street, you'll pay about 1/2 of what you would inside the airport parking lot. A pick up can be arranged for $15 if you'd prefer. Tell the taxi driver you're going to Sandy Bay by Roland Hardware (ferreteria Roland), which is across from Sonrise Calvary Chapel, it's between km marker 10 and 11.
