Going Green at Roatan Backpackers' Hostel

 We believe in doing our part to lessen our environmental impact and help our planet.  A few of our green initiatives:

-solar energy system for part of our electric consumption
-solar pathway lights
-garden irrigation system with recycled treated grey water
-energy efficient LED light-bulbs, solar outdoor lighting
-rain water collecting cistern
-recycling program for cans and plastic bottles
-purified water sold in 5 gallon, reusable jugs
-composting kitchen scraps

How can you help?  Turn off the lights/fans when you head out from the hostel, be conservative with water usage, and separate your recyclables from the rest of the garbage using the containers provided.
We have received the 'Green Leader' gold rating from Trip Advisor and are a member of Go Blue Central America Geotoursim.
