Island Cooking Classes

Sampling different foods and flavors is one of the great parts of traveling, and learning how typical local dishes are made is a fun way to experience local culture, as well as have a lasting memory to share with friends and family when your trip is done.  Roatan cooking classes are offered on Wednesdays at 5pm at Sunflower Cafe (onsite at the hostel) with islander cook Chilsey Bodden, for hostel guests and non-hostel guests alike.  Cooking classes must have a minimum of 4 participants signed up to run, but you are welcome to request one as a single traveler, and we'll try to fill the rest of the spots.  The cost is $20 +tax per person and includes all ingredients.  The class takes about an hour and a half, and is followed by sitting down to enjoy the dinner you created.  Each class is a different local dish, such as stewed chicken with rice and beans, fish in a coconut milk sauce with rice, pastelitos and other typical dishes.  If you have a special request, please email us in advance to see if we can accommodate it.
