Island Cooking Classes
Sampling different foods and flavors is one of the great parts of traveling, and learning how typical local dishes are made is a fun way to experience local culture, as well as have a lasting memory to share with friends and family when your trip is done. Roatan cooking classes are offered any weekday at 2pm at Sunflower Cafe (onsite at the hostel) with Auri James, for hostel guests and non-hostel guests alike. Auri was raised on the island, and then attended a culinary school in Canada. Cooking classes must have a minimum of 2 participants signed up to run, but you are welcome to request one as a single traveler, and we'll try to fill the rest of the spots. The cost is $50 +tax per person and includes all ingredients, and a digital copy of the recipe and photos of the experience emailed to you at the completion of the class. The class takes about 3-4 hours, and is followed by sitting down to enjoy the meal you created.
