Quiet beauty, unspoiled beaches with no one around, lush tropical jungle- Roatan's little sister Guanaja, located to the east of Roatan, is an amazing spot to escape to. Why are we talking about it on our hostel website? We are so excited to announce that our DAM team (Deo, Auri and Mel) has a new plan in the works, and it's in Guanaja!
The eco retreat that we plan to develop is still several years down the road, but for now, we'll be offering the opportunity to go camp out on the land, either in a hammock, a tent or in our 'survivor shack'. Do you like roughing it? The idea of spending a few nights on a beautiful beach with no modern amenities sounds like an adventure? Be forewarned: the no see ums are ruthless, it's boat access only, no power, no running water, just endless natural beauty. Incredible stars at night, amazing sunsets, the clear Caribbean sea at your feet.
A caretaker lives a little further down the beach, and can help you with drinking water, fresh water for bathing, and arranging a water taxi if you need to get in to the Cay to pick up supplies.
Talk to us about getting to Guanaja from Roatan- if we have a few people interested and the weather is good, we can arrange a private boat to go over.
To follow us on our journey as we work on turning the dream to a reality, you can go to our Guanaja Eco Retreat website and check out our blog
